Mykola Tomenko: Prosecution General shall verify the Facts of Partial Payment of Student Scholarships
Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko appealed to Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka with a request to verify the facts of partial payment of student scholarships.
M. Tomenko stressed that the order of allocation and payment of scholarship is set by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "Scholarship Provision", while under clause 2 of the law of Ukraine "On Indexation of Population Income", scholarship is qualified as the population income subject to indexation. The Deputy Chairman reminded that a minimum regular academic scholarship for students of higher education establishments of IІІ - IV levels of accreditation totals UAH 530, for students of higher education establishments of I - II levels of accreditation, UAH 400, for students of vocational schools, UAH 200. Being adjusted for indexation, these rates shall total: for students of higher education establishments of IІІ - IV levels of accreditation, UAH 720 (UAH 530 + UAH 190 of indexation), enhanced scholarship UAH 802 (UAH 590 + UAH 212 of indexation).
However, students of higher education establishments of Ukraine, and representatives of students´ non-governmental organizations appealed to M. Tomenko with regard to partial payment of student scholarships. Thus, the scholarship in Chornomorskyi Petro Mohyla State University totals UAH 580, in the Academy of Customs Service of Ukraine, UAH 530, in Ukrainian State Academy of Railway Transport, UAH 530, in Bukovyna State Financial Academy, UAH 530, in Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, UAH 350, in Mykolaiv State Agrarian University, UAH 600, in Kharkiv National Medical University, UAH 580, in Kyiv National University of Culture and Art, UAH 630.
In view of the social security of the students, M. Tomenko requested the Prosecution General to verify the facts of partial payment of student scholarships.
